Jonathan Yarrington, a native of Idaho Falls, Idaho, is in his second year of the Doctor of Musical Arts in Vocal Performance degree at UNT. He currently studies with Dr. Stephen Austin, and is a former student of retired Metropolitan Opera Mezzo-Soprano Ariel Bybee.
Mr. Yarrington has appeared in concert with the Utah Festival Opera Company, the UNL Concert Choir, the BYU Symphony Orchestra, and the BYU Singers. In 2005, he sang with the Utah Festival Opera Company as a festival artist.
Mr. Yarrington has sung more than fifteen leading roles with UNT Opera, UNL Opera, and BYU Opera, including The Stage Manager (Our Town), Ferrando (Cosi fan tutte), Herman (The Most Happy Fella), Don Ramiro (Cinderella), Tamino (The Magic Flute), Marco Palmieri (The Gondoliers), Pinkerton (Madama Butterfly), Nanki Pooh (The Mikado), and Rinuccio (Gianni Schicchi).
Upcoming roles/engagements include Jenik in Prodana nevesta (The Bartered Bride) with UNT Opera, Messiah with the Plano Civic Chorus, and Carmina Burana with the Southern Arkansas Symphony Orchestra.
